The Newmarket Islamic Centre is a new place of worship located at 700 Mulock Drive in Newmarket, Ontario. Designed as a modern community-focused Islamic centre, the project brings together spiritual, educational, and social functions within a contemporary architectural expression. The building permit drawings identify the project as a New Place of Worship for the Newmarket Islamic Centre, with AAA Architects listed as the architectural consultant.

The design moves away from a traditional mosque form and instead uses a bold contemporary language: clean vertical volumes, large glazed areas, patterned Islamic screens, warm wood accents, dark cladding, and carefully placed red feature walls. These elements create a strong civic presence while still reflecting Islamic identity through geometry, pattern, light, and proportion.

The main entrance is designed as a welcoming threshold between the public landscape and the interior worship space. A projecting canopy, transparent glazing, accessible ramps, and landscaped seating areas help create a comfortable and inclusive arrival experience. The exterior public realm includes benches, planting beds, trees, and paved pedestrian areas, giving the centre a community-oriented character rather than functioning only as a prayer building.

Inside, the building is planned to support assembly, worship, circulation, accessibility, and community gathering. The renderings show bright interior spaces, generous floor areas, patterned screens, high ceilings, and open circulation zones. The use of natural light and Islamic-inspired screen elements helps create a calm atmosphere suitable for prayer, reflection, and community events.

The project also includes a complete architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and landscape consultant package, reflecting the complexity of delivering a multi-storey public assembly building. The permit sheet list includes architectural plans, life safety plans, elevations, building sections, wall sections, washroom details, stair and elevator details, glazing schedules, and related engineering drawings.
