250 LESTER

Mr. Aqeel was the principal architect for 250 Lester, a 12-story residential project located on a very restrictive site in Waterloo, Ontario. The zoning requirements on this site offered many challenges including a limited tower footprint, close proximity to potential neighbouring developments, and driveway access. 

The building’s massing steps back from the street, offering a more human scale frontage along Lester Street, as well as providing a rooftop amenity space-oriented south to maximize sun exposure. The building is then wrapped in a skin that offers more opacity for private spaces and more transparency for public spaces in order to mitigate privacy concerns with future neighbouring buildings.
